What Can I Do For You?
By Roger Smith, ELCA Stewardship Specialist-Region 8

Over the years I have shared with many congregations different ideas and resources for stewardship ministry.  With this writing, I would like to describe how I am personally available to work with congregations in the area of stewardship.

Stewardship Basics

Sometimes, stewardship committees appreciate a review of just what their task is in the ministry of the congregation and of stewardship basics.  I am most willing to meet with stewardship committees and church councils to review stewardship basics.

Stewardship Consultations

What should we be doing in the area of stewardship?  What is the next step?  Where do we go from here?  What process is available for evaluating congregational stewardship programs?  It is positive to be intentional about taking time to talk about visions and dreams.  If I can be of assistance in this process, give me a call.  I would be happy to meet with you!

Stewardship Resourcing

Just exactly what is out there in the way of stewardship programs and educational materials for the congregation?  What are the best Internet websites?  What is involved in year round stewardship?  What can we do for mission interpretation?  How can we communicate better with the congregation?  How can we implement these in our programmatic ministry?  If I can help in this planning, let me know.

Annual Every Response Programs

I am available to review annual response programs with you.  There are a number of programs available and some may fit your situation better than others.  I am also available to lead or provide trained people to lead response programs, such as Herb Miller’s Consecration Sunday, to train visitors for an Every Member Visit or for Stewardship in the Small Membership Rural/Urban Congregation program.

Contact Information

If I can be a resource in any way at all, let me know.  My home and office number is 717.761.0519, and my e-mail address is rwsmith437@comcast.net.

II Corinthians 8: 3
For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will.

Luke 12: 48b
But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
