SYNOD ASSEMBLY NOMINATIONS
Below is the 2024 Nominations Form for open positions. The deadline for nominations to be included in a nomination packet distributed to Synod Assembly voting members is April 24. If information is received after the deadline, only the name of the nominee will appear on the ballot. Questions may be directed to nomination chair, Paula Nihoff at lhcupaula@aol.com
This year we will elect persons to serve as Churchwide Assembly Voting Members. The Churchwide Assembly takes place in August 2025 in Phoenix. We also are electing a Synod Secretary to a four-year term as well as Synod Council, Consultation Committee and Discipline Committee members.
NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING
If your congregation has youth attending the National Youth Gathering in July, please let Bishop Paula and/or Pastor Kevin know by February 15.
DRAFT SOCIAL STATEMENT AND MESSAGE OPEN FOR FEEDBACK
A draft version (Civic_Life_and_Faith_Draft.pdf (elca.org)) of the ELCA social statement on civic life and faith is now available for study and discussion. You can give feedback by filling out a survey, found here: Draft of a Social Statement on Civic Life and Faith Survey (surveymonkey.com), or by participating in a hearing. Hearings are public gatherings where participants share specific affirmations or concerns. The feedback period will be open until Sept. 30. Learn more.
